Description

Tamang Heritage Trail is a newly open trail in the Langtang region nearby Nepal –Tibet border. It offers a great opportunity for trekkers to explore the amazing alpine landscapes, natural hot springs and experience Tamang culture, traditional lifestyle of the local community, festivals and unique Syabru local dance. And this is a long distance trekking through the border area with Tibet. You hike in the area between the Ganesh Himal (7429m) and the Langtang Langtang Himal (7234m) near the more famous valley of Langtang.

The trip begins with an eight-hour drive from Kathmandu heading to Syabru Besi. Then the next day early morning with the view of breathtaking scenery with paddy field & Tamang village trek starts. In spring (March- April) one can enjoy the sighting of rhododendron flowers in full bloom along the trail.  The traditions of the Langtang region are pretty much steeped in Tibetan culture as many of the inhabitants of this region have migrated from Tibet. Then they have changed their surname to Tamang and hold Nepalese citizenship. During the trek, We can get a beautiful viewpoint on Nagthali  Mountain cross.  From viewpoint we can see the Langtang Himalayan range. It offers you a beautiful insight into the daily life of the local Tamang people.

Without explaining about the history of the Tamang people we can found there settlement in mountain area. It is  believed that the Tamang people are from the ethnic group of Nepal who settled in the Nepalese Himalayas. Currently they live about half of the Nepalese Himalayas.

Especially living in the high foothills of the Himalayas they survive mainly through agriculture and more recently also through tourism. Tamang Heritage trail was created to develop local community with bring more tourist on this region. Also it can be help the development of the local communities.
