One of Nepal’s last Himalayan trekking jewels is Manaslu Circuit Trek exhibiting the sensational mountain vistas, fascinating culture, and biological diversity, ranging altitudes from 600 to 5500 meter. This trek suits best to those who are looking for the challenging but less trodden trekking route in Nepal which is also a part of the Great Himalayan Trail. Nowadays basic tea houses are available all around Manaslu trekking route. So, we don’t need to organize full board camping which we used to have a few years back. Manaslu Circuit Trek is becoming the best alternative of classic Annapurna circuit due to the road construction in some sections of Annapurna region.
Manaslu circuit trek’s main highlight of the adventure is a traverse over high pass of Larkya-la at 5,153m/16901ft. It offers a fantastic panorama of mountains with world’s 8th highest Mt. Manaslu and adjoining peaks of this amazing landscapes, hill, and valleys with a lovely alpine forest full of rhododendron, pines, hemlock, and oaks tree lines in the country. The trekking route passes through the settlements of Gurung, Magar, and Bhotias of Manaslu high region, one of indigenous high hills tribes of Nepal, midwest Himalaya which borders Nepal to Tibet at a close distance from Larkya Phedi and Samdo village.
Manaslu circuit trek offers grand spectacle of Mt. Manaslu (8,163m/26774ft), Annapurna I (8,091m / 26,545ft) Annapurna South (7,219m-23/693ft), Gangapurna (7,455m-24/457ft) and Annapurna III (7,555m/24787ft), including Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fish-tail) at 6,997m/22950ft stretching up to east massif of Ganesh Himal or Yangra (7,422 m / 24,350 ft) with stunning sunrise in some of the high ridges of Manaslu, neighboring peaks with wonderful landscapes, hills and valleys with lovely alpine forest, full of rhododendron blossoms, pines, hemlock, and oaks tree lines.
Manaslu circuit trek begins a wonderful adventure with an exciting drive towards Gorkha district of north mid-west region of Nepal. We start our trek from Arughat after the drive from Kathmandu following the glacial Buri-Gandaki River upstream all the way near to higher valley and mountains of Manaslu area. Most of the Manaslu trekking is in the region known as Nupri, an area of strong Tibetan influence with the trade route between the regions. The trek progresses from low sub-tropical climate heading higher towards the cool alpine area of Jagat, Dying, Lo Gaon and Samagaon villages. As you trek higher, you will notice the Hindu culture being replaced by Buddhist features of Mani walls, Khanyi gates, and Chortens along with topographical changes. This trekking region is a natural habitat for many elusive wild animals including the snow leopard, grey wolf, musk deer, Himalayan Thar, and blue sheep. Keep your eyes open else you miss the golden chance to see these wild animals.
We head towards Manang area at Dharapani village where the famous Annapurna Circuit trek trail joins. The last leg of this trekking completes at Bhulbhule for the drive to Kathmandu with glorious memories and moments of Manaslu circuit trekking with excellent service provided by friendly guide and porters from Adventure Blossom Treks and Expedition.
