Bhutan Cultural Tour is ideal for those who have limited time for a holiday but want to explore the Himalayan kingdom and experience the cultural and natural wonders of this amazing Buddhist Kingdom. On the tour, you will enjoy the scenic drive, picturesque sightseeing walks, and even a short mountain hike to see a spectacular view.

Just after landing at the Paro airport, you will be picked up and transferred to Paro town in a private vehicle. In Paro, you will visit Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest), one of the most sacred monasteries in Bhutan built on the steep cliff, the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong and local Paro market. If weather permits, you will also see the mesmerizing distant view of Mt. Chomolhari from Paro Valley.

The next day morning after breakfast we will drive you to Thimphu, the capital town of Bhutan. It will be about 1-5 hour’s drive. In Thimphu, you will visit the paper making factory, handicraft center, the national library, the School of Thangkha, Trashichho Chhoe Dzong, the seat of Bhutan’s government & Royal offices, Pangri Zampa, two 16th century buildings and Takin Sanctuary where you will see a  unique national animal from close range. Apart from 3 days touring program, you can also join a private archery lesson, yoga, a biking excursion, or traditional Bhutanese spa treatments if you can extend one or two more days.

Leaving Thimphu, we will drive for about 3 hours to Punakha via Dochula La at 3140m. From the pass, we will descend through varied forest and finally emerging into the highly cultivated valley of Punakha. Take a short hike through beautiful rice fields to Chimmi Lhakhang, a temple dedicated to Drukpa Kuenley, who as a favorite saint of the Bhutanese people is known affectionately as “the Divine Madman”.  The temple is on a hillside in the middle of rice fields and has become a pilgrimage site for childless couples.

Itinerary

Upon arrival in Paro, clear customs and immigration. Keep your copy of the visa clearance letter handy. Meet your guide and driver outside the terminal building and transfer to Paro town. Then, you will hike to the Thaksang (Tiger Nest) monastery (the journey takes approximately 3 hours). After lunch, you will walk back to the road point and visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. Dinner and Overnight stay at the hotel in Paro

After breakfast in the hotel in Paro, you will make a short drive along the valley to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. This very picturesque drive past rural homes, hillside monasteries, and chortens . It takes only 1.5 hours. Check in your hotel and after lunch at a local restaurant start your sightseeing. Visit the Textile Museum, a traditional paper making factory, handicraft center, the national library, the School of Thangkha, Trashichho Chhoe Dzong, the seat of Bhutan’s government & Royal offices, Pangri Zampa, two 16th century buildings and Takin Sanctuary where you will see a unique national animal from close range. Also, you will visit Bhutan Post Office Headquarters where you can make stamps with your own photos (USD 4 for 12 stamps, at your expense). Dinner and Overnight stay at the hotel in Thimphu

After breakfast, we will drive for about 3 hours to Punakha. Climb up the mountain road to Dochula La at 3140m. On clear weather, you can enjoy a wonderful panorama of the Eastern Himalayas. From the pass, we will descend through varied forest and finally emerging into the highly cultivated valley of Punakha. Take a short hike through beautiful rice fields to Chimmi Lhakhang, a temple dedicated to Drukpa Kuenley, who as a favorite saint of the Bhutanese people is known affectionately as "the Divine Madman". The temple is on a hillside in the middle of rice fields and has become a pilgrimage site for childless couples. Enjoy some tea and snacks at the end of the hike while overlooking the fields. ). After breakfast, we will make a scenic drive and re-crossing Dochula Pass enjoying the view of the eastern Himalayas and Gasa town from the Pass. Then, we will descend to Thimphu valley take a diversion to Paro from Simtokha following Thimphu Chu till Chuzon, following Paro chu till Paro valley. ). Dinner and Overnight stay at the hotel in Paro
