This is one of the most popular day tours in the Kathmandu valley. It covers the UNESCO-listed medieval city of Bhaktapur and the best tourist spot-Nagarkot. Our expert and knowledgeable city guide explains you all about Bhaktapur’s fascinating history , art and culture of Bhaktapur world heritage city. During the tour in Bhaktapur, you will explore sacred ancient temples, palaces, statues and beautiful architecture crafted by Newar artists of the Licchavi and Malla Dynasty. At the Bhaktapur Durbar square you find many architectural wonders that include the Lion’s Gate, the statue of King Bhupatindra Malla, the picture Gallery, the palace of 55 windows, the golden Gate, the colossal Bell of Barking dogs and Bhairab Nath Temple etc. The statue of the king Bhupatendra Malla in the worshiping pose is placed on a column facing the palace. Of the many statues available in Nepal this statue is considered the most significant. The Batsala Stone Temple of goddess Batsala Devi was completely demolished by the 2015 devastating Nepal’s earthquake.
After lunch in a local restaurant in Bhaktapur we continue our day walk making our way to Taumadhi Square where you can do some shopping especially the handicraft and other souvenir items. Then, you walk through a maze of back streets and courtyards on the way to Dattatreya Temple in Dattatreya Square. After completing the sightseeing tour of Bhaktapur we continue our journey to Nagarkot which is a popular hill station located at an altitude of 2100m above the sea level and it is in close proximity to Bhaktapur . It is the best place to witness the amazing views of Central Himalayas especially Langtang range, mesmerizing sights of Mount Everest in the East and Dhaulagiri range in the West In addition , in Nagarkot you can also have an excellent opportunity to observe the Nepalese rural lifestyle and farmlands being away from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu Metropolitan city. If weather favors , in the evening you can enjoy sunset view from the Nagarkot view tower.
After breakfast at 9 am you will be picked up by our guide from your hotel and driven to Bhaktapur in a private, air conditioned car/ van for day tour. It is located approximately 20 km east of Kathmandu. This medieval city is enriched with ancient monuments, mostly terra-cotta with carved wood columns, royal palaces and religious shrines with extensive carvings, gilded roofs, and open courtyards. After sightseeing in Bhaktapur and having lunch we will continue our journey to Nagarkot, a most popular hill station to enjoy the mountain vista and sunset.
